2019-2020 Second Semester Plans
Hello Warren Mott students! I hope you all are doing well in these unprecedented times and that you and your families and friends are all staying safe and healthy. By now, you have been receiving information from the school and district on the changes being made and the expectations of all of us for the remainder of the school year. I hope you all understand that these will still be developing over the coming weeks as we work to see what the future holds for us. There is an expectation both for me to provide some work/lesson guidance and for you to join in on the learning process as we go along. As I believe has been explained, the work done here will not and cannot count toward grades as that issue is still being dealt with by the districts and state to determine what is fair for everyone. I want you all to look at this as an opportunity to build your knowledge through some self-guided work and through discussions and dialogue I will be conducting with you. The first file included below this message covers my expectations for what we will be doing and explains the work that will be involved. Keep coming back to this site for updates as we move forward. Again, I hope you all stay safe and healthy as the country and world works through this crisis. Keep strong!

**PLEASE NOTE** You have a couple options for submission of the weekly video questions. You can save the file as your name plus the week assignment (for example "BardellineWeek1") and just type your answers into the document, which you can e-mail to me. Or if you so choose, you can print out the assignment and write in the answers, take a picture and email that back to me.

Week One Lesson Video (April 13th-17th)
**PLEASE NOTE** Above is the video lesson explaining many of the ideas and key parts from the videos. I apologize in advance because all of the videos will have a watermark on the screen because I'm on the free trial of the software. I may be looking at other options to see if I can eliminate but I have included the PowerPoint itself so you can reference that if need be.
Also, this is a lengthy video because I did just one straight-through take for the whole thing. For future weeks, though, I am going to try to film individual lesson videos for each of the videos I have you watch so you don't have one long video to watch. This may help you pace out reviewing the ideas from each video.

**IMPORTANT CHANGE** Starting next week, all videos and handouts will be provided through Schoology. The invites for the conference call should be coming later today through your school e-mail as I will send them through Schoology. This will make it easier so you have one place to go for all the videos and handout and to connect to the conference call.

LESSON PLAN ANNOUNCEMENT
I'm making some adjustments to the plans for the upcoming weeks. The Crash Course videos and assignment for the week are posted below and will be the primary focus for you as we move forward. The assignment does include much more to it, including some further reflection and opinion questions on the various topics so please make sure you take your time with each of the videos. The assignments will look more like this for the upcoming weeks and are still expected to be turned in by Friday of each week.
I will not be uploading Loom lesson videos or PowerPoints from this point forward. Though I've enjoyed working on creating them and getting ideas for how to do similar work in the future, it seems that most signs were indicating they weren't being viewed that much, if at all, by the vast majority of students. That is rather disappointing, to say the least, as I feel they could have been helpful in trying to learn in this long distance manner. And I do know there is a certain balance between those who really made the effort (which I appreciate), those who absolutely couldn't because of tough circumstance (which I can understand and sympathize with), and those who chose to ignore or disregard them (which I'm discouraged by).
But, I am still keeping the weekly virtual meeting scheduled for every Friday at 1:00 p.m. through Microsoft Teams (links will still be sent each week). I'd like to use this as a chance for you to catch up with me and your classmates and discuss any key concepts or ideas you may need clarified from the week. Or even just talk about whatever is going on through all that we've been living through these past couple months. Admittedly, the turnout for these has been disturbingly low given the size of my classes, but I still want to have the option there for those who want to use it.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need help with anything. I hope all of you and your families are doing well and staying as safe as possible through all of this. I know some families have already been affected by the coronavirus and my heart goes out to you. Please do what you can to keep yourself and those around you not only physically healthy, but also mentally and emotionally healthy. I do miss seeing all of you every day and look forward to when that can happen again! Take care!

Final Week Instructions and Message (Week of June 8th)
We have finally reached the final week of the 2019-2020 school and it has been a memorable year, to say the very least. I know this year and especially these past few months have brought their share of ups and downs for all of us, and we are entering a future where we don't know what else will change. However, I have been impressed by how much positive energy and effort have been brought by so many students throughout all of this, and I've enjoyed the conversations I've been able to have with some of you over this time.
As for the final week, there are no videos for you to watch (insert applause if applicable). I am leaving this week more of a make-up week for anyone who still needs to get work submitted to help themselves get credit for the class. I would like to ask, if you have the time and would like to, if you could write up a response to send to me that explains your thoughts and experiences with the online learning process overall in your classes. I'm very curious to hear what you think about how these past couple months have worked for you - positively or negatively. You don't have to do it, but I would love to heard the feedback if you so desire.
If you have any questions or need anything in this final week, please reach out to me. I will leave the time open on Friday if anyone would like to join in for a final virtual meeting through Teams - there is no obligation here but if you just want to have one final conversation with friends about whatever. Feel free to join if you want and I will share the links later in the week. If I don't see you or talk to you, please have a wonderful and safe summer. I know many are happy to see that more places will be opening and there will be some more free movement, but please be careful and safe through all these changes. I wish all of you the best and look forward to seeing you one way or another next school year!
